While not everyone likes the recent hot weather we’ve been experiencing, many delight in the consistently sunny skies, especially our cyclists.

It’s excellent weather for those passionate about cycling, and two top cycling events are set to take place in Grenada in the coming weeks. Soon, cyclists will battle on the asphalt for top ranking in the 2 Up Road TT and the Time Trial.

The Filicity Cycling Club’s upcoming 2 Up Road TT, a precursor to the Time Trial, gives riders a chance to prepare for the May tournament. This race takes place on 21 April 2024. Participants will assemble at ACE Hardware’s parking lot in Grand Anse, St. George, from 7.30am. However, the 10km competition begins at Maurice Bishop Highway, Sugar Mill and finishes at the Maurice Bishop International Airport. Registration on the day of the race at 6.30am for $15XCD. You can compete in the veteran, elite, or amateur classes.

Two weeks later, on 5 May 2024, cyclists will again test their endurance at the second annual Time Trial cycling competition. This is one of the most anticipated meets on the Grenada cycling community’s calendar and is organised by Finishline Promotions and the Grenada Cycling Federation. Time Trial 2024 takes place in the parish of St. Andrew at 8am. Cyclists will chart a 10-mile course from River Antoine to Paradise and back. This annual competition features riders in the elite, masters, women, and juniors categories. It also includes a mountain bike component. There will be cash prizes to be won. Registration for this event is $20XCD.

Come support your favourite cyclists as they peddle to victory in two of our main cycling events. For more information, visit the Grenada Cycling Federation Facebook page.
