It is carnival season in the Cayman Islands, and we’re sharing the details on what to expect, where to get tickets, and the bands that will play Mas in 2024.

Launched in 1983 by the Rotary Club of Grand Cayman, Cayman Carnival Batabano is held during the first week of May.

Batabano 2024 Main Events

Batabano Junior Parade – Saturday 20 April at Cardinal Avenue in George Town

The Family Fun Day activities kick off at 2pm. The parade circles around town, returning to Cardinal Avenue where the junior masqueraders cross the stage and perform choreographed dances. Then the Glow Teen Jam begins at 7pm.

Since 2002, Junior Batabano’s objective has been to provide a family-friendly environment for Cayman’s youth to enjoy the spirit of carnival in their own parade through George Town on their own weekend before the adult parade.

The event ends at 6pm.

Batabano Grand Costume Parade – Saturday 4 May on West Bay Road

The Grand Costume Parade will take its traditional route from Seven Mile Public Beach to George Town’s historic waterfront, starting at 1pm.

The parade culminates with the famous Batabano Food Festival in the town centre, along with Batabano’s traditional street dance known as the “Las’ Lap”, featuring multiple stages where various bands perform until midnight. Admission is free to the Food Festival and Street Dance.

Batabano J’ouvert – Monday 6 May (at a secret location to be announced at midnight on event day)

Batabano J’ouvert Road Parade starts at 4am! Tickets are CI S100. All J’ouvert packages include drinks and a Caribbean breakfast, a backpack and T-shirt, mud, paint, and a water truck!

Get tickets at Le Classique in The Strand. The secret private location will be announced at midnight on event day!

Bands and Costumes
